Clarence E. Daniels, 41, 1005 East Nebraska avenue, his daughter, Beulah, 13, and son, Larry, 10, tragically drowned in the Illinois river south of the White House dam Monday.

The girl’s body was recovered by Beaver Woodruff of Galena Rd. and his nephew, George. Bodies of the father and son were recovered later that evening by Policeman Tophil Simon of the East Peoria department using a grappling hook.

The Daniels family including the parents and three children had driven to the wooded shore south of dam for a picnic. Mrs. Daniels and a son Wayne with the father were in their car a few yards from the bank while the two younger children donned bathing suits and waded into the water. They had been wading for more than an hour when they sceamed for help. Mr. Daniels jumped from the car and dashed into the water.

The Daniels family came to Peoria two years ago from Joliet. Mr. Daniels operated the Peoria Skelgas Service store at 313 Harrison street. Beulah Daniels was born in Mansfield, Ohio Dec. 28, 1906. She would have entered the ninth grade at Woodruff high school this week.

Jay Larry Daniels was born in Dayton, Ohio, Feb. 27, 1930. Last year he was in fourth grade at Von Steuben school.

The father was a native of Danville, Ohio, born March 3, 1899. He is survived by a brother Walter Daniels of Frederickstown, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Rohrer of Seville, Ohio and Mrs. Florence Robinson of Senecaville, Ohio.
